Hinduism - can you describe the ideal of love in the great epic Ramayana ?

haritha....!!! - 2009-09-07 06:38:56 - Religion Spirituality

Sriram enquires Bharatha at chitrakuta whether his wife was saphala, i.e.,blest with love and offspring. Valmiki has everywhere lent his powerful support only to married love and never to unbridled or non-martial romance. it says that only the evening and not the morning or day time must be given up to woman and love.

Please do not equate love and sex as same thing. Love is very vast spectrum. Love to nature, Love to parent, Love to children, Love to sister and brother, and so on. And Hindu philosophy advocate sex after marriage. Sex as worship, not as tool of Entertainment. And also advocate to follow bhramcharya as much as possible

when i think of ideal love in ramayana, the love between shri ram and his brother bharatha comes to mind.

Ramayana shows the true ideal love between two souls.when rama meets Athri rishi's ashram, his wife Anusuya talks to sita and wonders about her pure love that made her to come to forest for the sake of husband. To which seetha replies that, "MY HUSBAND LOOKS AFTER ME AND CARES FOR ME LIKE A MOTHER, FATHER, AND A LOVABLE HUSBAND. THE LOVE HE HAS FOR ME IS EQUAL TO MY LOVE,WHICH I HAVE FOR HIM.HOW CAN I REMAIN WITHOUT LOVING HIM?" Love must be equal, and it has certain time limits, prescribed in saastras, which has to be spent for women, and those timings, are good according to scientific reasons also. And the upadesha, which Rama gives to Bharatha, which was full of raajneedhi, shows how he cares for dharma to be upholded by a king.Even, that is the reason for the agnipariksha,in ehich he sacrifisec his greatness to show sita's greatness to the whole world and also his partition with sita, when he sacrificed her to jungle, for the sake of people.
